INGMAR TROST GERMAN PRODUCER ON THE MOVE
This is the 16th time that European Film Promotion (EFP) is inviting promising young producers from Europe to Cannes to participate in the PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE networking platform. Ingmar Trost of the Cologne-based production company Sutor Kolonko Filmproduktion will be representing Germany. He was nominated by the EFP member German Films. In total, 20 producers from 20 different European countries will be showcased and be able to make international contacts during the Cannes Film Festival from 15 to 18 May 2015.
A graduate in Film Studies and Documentary Directing from London’s Goldsmiths College, Ingmar Trost had directed and produced documentaries before founding Sutor Kolonko in 2010. His credits include Ilian Metev’s award-winning documentary SOFIA’S LAST AMBULANCE (BG/DE/HR), Juris Kursietis’ MODRIS (LV/GR/DE) and Ingo Haeb’s THE CHAMBERMAID LYNN. Ingmar has just completed his third feature, Isabelle Stever’s THE WEATHER INSIDE, and is now working on Andre Hörmann’s THE PUNCH and Chico Pereira’s DONKEYNOTE. He is also developing projects by Metev (MIMU PEPO TATI), and Francisco Hervé and Tom Schreiber (FATHERLAND).
The goal of the PRODUCER ON THE MOVE program is to promote the exchange between European producers, offer them the opportunity to intensify international experiences and make new contacts for future projects. The most important criteria for qualifying as a PRODUCER ON THE MOVE are international experience in co-productions and the theatrical releases of films outside of the home country.
This year sees the number of participants being reduced to 20 in order to make the events in Cannes more effective. The schedule during the four-day event includes working sessions, one-to-one speed-dating meetings and various opportunities for cross-border conversations and discussions.
A number of international co-productions have resulted from the program each year. In the past five years, former participants have collaborated on a total of 19 co-productions. For example, Maria Ekerhovd from Norwegen and Gian-Piero Ringel of Germany's Neue Road Movies, who both met at PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE in 2011, joined forces with Sweden's Lizette Jonjic (PRODUCER ON THE MOVE 2010) to produce DIRK OHM – THE ILLUSIONIST THAT DISAPPEARED by Bobbie Peers.
PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE is supported by Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme of the European Union and the EFP member organisations, including German Films.
