The future of a nation lies in the hands of its youth who are the greatest wealth of their country in all fields and areas. Hence, if we want to ensure a guaranteed future for the world, we need to provide them with right kind of education they need which could benefit them scientifically, logically, culturally, artistically and morally.

Without proper education, our youth couldn’t find their desired path and would remain in great dissatisfaction. Art is no exception. In order to have professionals and experts in art world, we need to provide them with useful guidance and information so Fajr International Film Festival has added Daroulfonoun and the 7th Hour sections for its category for some years and 36th edition is no exception.

We had an Interview with Alexander Zubaulenka, Russian student of documentary film making. He is attending Darolfonoun section of Fajr International Film Festival this year.

1.    How did you benefit from the classes held during the Darolfonoun section?

Despite the fact that I am a documentarian, I decided to come to Iran and attend the workshops because I do believe Iran’s cinema tries to tell something new in the cinema language and it is interesting because I wanted to understand how to show reality not only fiction but also documentary since they are connected.

2.    Have you ever made documentaries? What stories are you willing to highlight?

Yes my field in documentary and my interest is as well. And I have made one which was about a boy who craved being an artist and playing the main role but failed due to his disabilities and this is drama that you want something, you dream about it but cannot reach it because of some disabilities.

3.    How many classes did you attend and how did you see them?

We attended two classes about script writing and I cannot understand script and I wish there were some workshops about documentary as well so that documentary students could benefit from them better.

4.    Comparing these workshops in Iran with other countries, what are

the similarities and differences?

This is my first workshop to attend and I think adding some workshops on documentary would be great. I have also one suggestion which is giving the participating students a subject and asking them make a film or documentary during their stay in the country individually or as a team. A small story, a small camera and a small team. Of course not obligatory.

5.    How do you think these events could help countries strengthen

mutual bonds culturally and artistically?

We have already started exchanging interesting talks and information in the hotel we stay. You know everyone knows about old and famous directors but not many are familiar with new and young filmmakers and I think this is a great chance to make than happen.

I hope some documentary directors could hold workshops in which they could help the students in the field to find the answers to their questions.

of Fajr International Film Festival will be held in Tehran on April 19-27. The Event will take place in Charsou Cineplex in Tehran.
